6.Independence of India and Pakistan

India’s independence movement began after World War I, and on the 15th of August in 1947 after WWII, India and Pakistan became independent. Muslims, which had been a minority of India previously, demanded separation as West Pakistan and East Pakistan (independent as Bangladesh in 1971) with the aim of building an Islamic state, and separated from India that was and is dominated by Hindus.

After independence, India established a republican nation and abolished the Maharaja system. Most of the musicians, who served in the courts, lost their places of music and livelihood in this way, and their music became popular in front of the general public such as concerts.

Indian music fans of the ordinary people gradually increased as they were exposed to music, that had been handed down to various schools one after another at music conference, it became crowded with them every day and night especially in the big cities during the concert seasons of wintertime.
